Embarkation Day

Day 2 Southampton.

A very hot day!  Hotter than Portugal, probably the last time for the next 3 weeks.

Slept well, checked out and left bags. We walked to the Ocean Village where we had a fantastic breakfast at Maritimo Lounge,  followed by a really interesting visit to the Solent Sky Museum. A fascinating history of the aviation history of the area. Included in the exhibits was a converted Sunderland Flying boat that once belonged to Maureen O’Hara. Converted into a 44 seat luxury aircraft we were lucky enough to be given a guided tour, including a cockpit tour.

The process of embarkation was very smooth and our cabin is fine. It will take some time to learn our way around, but we do have 3 weeks.

We have yoga, art classes, including watercolour and a nice looking gym plus various other entertainments. Oh,

and there’s also a golf net!

We’ve got booked onto fixed 8.15 dining on a table for 8 which wasn’t what we wanted. So we have asked to be changed to what is called Freedom Dining ie eat when you like but of

course you can’t book and it’s first come first served. We won’t know for a few days if we’ve been changed. But there are other inclusive restaurants and some where you pay extra. So it will be fine.

Just having a beer on deck as we leave harbour.   Don’t know how long before we can post our next blog as we are at sea tomorrow.
