Day at Sea

Day 3

Dinner last night was fine. It was at 8.15 and after such a varied day it didn’t seem too late. We were at a table for 8 but two were missing. We’d ordered a wine package and that ran very smoothly and we had a lovely white Rioja. The food was about what we expected - nice but not outstanding. Then a port and a sherry after the meal in the Crows Nest which was very enjoyable.

Not a bad nights sleep (bed very comfy) then a relatively early buffet breakfast in the Horizon restaurant. Very good indeed although the coffee was worse than rubbish.

I was going to a yoga class at 9 but felt a little queasy. The ship was wobbling far more than expected. So the thought of hanging upside down was somewhat daunting. But I went anyway. For anyone who has done paddle board yoga I’m sure this was similar. Just imagine doing tree (a balance pose on one leg) with the floor moving beneath you 🤪. As a result of that and the queasiness it wasn’t the best lesson but I will go again.

Then I went straight to a watercolour class in the Crows Nest. It was absolutely packed and I was the last one in. Unfortunately I was sitting with a gentleman who was a brilliant artist which was galling, but he was lovely and had some good tips. He was painting an amazing scenery from a picture on his phone. The rest of us were doing puffins. I loved the class and wasn’t too disappointed with my picture.

In the meanwhile Steve walked round the upper decks for 45mins. He thought he’d broken the Olympic record for speed walking until he realised that his speed included the 16 nautical miles per hour that the ship was doing😂. But he still did well with 10 circuits of the ship.

We then met up for a talk on Grundadjordur, our first shore trip in Iceland which was half an hour of our lives we won’t get back. 🤣.   Then a Costa latte in the Crows Nest.

There are absolutely loads of activities and talks available - including a Fitsteps class (Jo). Steve tried the golf nets - ONCE but wasn’t impressed by the clubs or ball. I’ll give it a go later. But you name it and there is something available.

We still have no idea of our way around the ship and tend to find things by chance rather than intent.

Lunch was a nice fresh salad followed by cheese and biscuits. The afternoon was quiet, relaxing in the cabin, a bit of a snooze, playing golf - oh ok, whacking some balls into a net - and photographing aircraft carriers, namely HMS Prince of Wales. Oh and the ship has stopped wobbling.
